Mission Statement
We, the family at St. Barnabas seek to build a relationship with the young people of the parish. We will strive to support them as they grow, to help them gain a sense of purpose, and an opportunity to experience God’s unconditional love.
The parish was commissioned in youth work on 9 April 2006.
We have employed a full-time youth worker and have a team of volunteers who work with the young people in the parish.
Currently the youth team engages the young people through detached youth work. Basically the team goes out three evenings a week to meet the young people wherever they are hanging out and the team tries and build up positive relationships with the young people they make contact with.
We currently go out on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening for around two hours.
We are hoping to start some other groups soon, so the young people will have something to do in the evenings.
Through our words and actions we seek to demonstrate the unconditional love of God to the young people of the parish.
