Shared Ministry Development Team

St Barnabas was commissioned as a Shared Ministry Parish by the Bishop of Durham on Sunday, 17th March 2002.  The Shared Ministry Development Team (SMDT) is a group of people called from the congregation "to enable the whole congregation to minister together more effectively".

The Role of the Team is more of leadership than of management.

The Aims of the Team are:

To meet regularly to pray and plan initiatives to help and encourage members of the church family to discover and use their skills.

To choose priorities to promote the mission of the church in the locality.

To support the clergy in shared ministry by prayer and action.

To have a strong commitment to each other within the Team.

The Mission of the Team is that we be a family of people of all ages who gather to worship God through Jesus Christ, and that we live to care, share and witmess in His love to all our local and wider communities.
