Youth Project
The Youth Project at St Barnabas Church has been running since 2005 with a paid youth worker and a team of volunteers.
Youth Project Mission Statement
“We, the family at St. Barnabas
seek to build a relationship
with the young people of the parish.
We will strive to support them as they grow,
to help them gain a sense of purpose,
and an opportunity to experience
God's unconditional love”
We currently run a range of activities for children and young people aged 5-18:
SOULED OUT – Mondays 5pm - 6:30pm
Bible based activities including singing, dancing, games and craft for children aged 5-11
SOLID - Mondays 7pm – 8:30pm
Discipleship group, looking at issues affecting young people, developing leadership skills and exploring faith.
Detached Work - Thursday and Friday 8am – 8:30am
Meeting young people at the school bus stop offering hot chocolate and a chance to chat
Drop In - Thursdays and Fridays 4:30pm – 6:30pm
Open to any young people in secondary school who want a space to chat, do homework, surf the net or just relax
We also run a comprehensive “Out of Hours” service to young people providing them with the opportunity to talk about anything from school and the future to relationships and sexual health, friends and family issues or just a chat.
St Barnabas Church is committed to Child Protection and works within the guidelines of “Safe and Secure” (the Diocese of Durham Child Protection Policy)
